This book is fairly useless- and overpriced to boot. I've been a big fan of many of the Lonely Planet guides but this one is not very informative or useful. I ended up leaving it behind on one of my flights, and was glad to have this literal paperweights off my hands.
Travel guides by Lonely Planet used to be very informative with lot more detail but this version does not provide that much.
I always go to Lonely Planet because I've used them so long I can calibrate their recoomendations.

I really enjoyed this book before I took my trip to Laos. I wasn't really sure what to expect as none of my friends had been there and I really did have anyone to talk to about it. The only issue is that I love photography and the pictures of places and sights was limited. I think reading something like this and checking out some videos like the ones on "Surf and Turf Travel" and "Lost LeBlanc" is the best way to research your travel to this fairly untarnished paradise.
