Little does Liana know, the coat she's taken is about to get her caught up in a case of mistaken identity.Joseph has a dark, violent past, and the only way he is able to control it is through living out dark fantasies with women and routine. He signs up for a kidnap fantasy with the mystery woman at the bar, an escort. However, Liana's thievery throws a wrench in his plans. Joseph has never seen the escort up close, and Liana and the woman look similar at a distance. When he sees Liana in the coat, he obviously assumes it's the woman he has the agreement with.The "couple" struggle with confusion, lies, and betrayal. Joseph is confused because Liana isn't following the rules of the contract and doesn't realize she isn't the escort he hired, and Liana is confused because she thinks the kidnapping is real and doesn't know about the contract with the escort. Eventually, Liana catches on to the mistake, but she's falling for Joseph. She knows if he finds out the truth, he'll make her leave.You'll have to read to see what happens when Joseph learns the truth.Slow build to the plot so the reader can follow Liana's training and her development. A few writing mistakes, but it doesn't take away from the story.
Omg. Don't you just love the feeling when you find a new "to- you -author" that you just LOVE??!!Where have you been Linnea May? Oh, it's not your fault. You have been waiting patiently in my TBR. I, however, could kick myself square in the @@s!! This book was simply AMAZING!!I realize that I may be in a minority, and I have seen a few people raked over the coals on social media, but I LOVE elements of dark non/dub con in a book! And this is truly one of the best I have had the pleasure of reading in some time.This plot was incredibly unique. It is not your typical non/dub con...In fact, it all starts as one huge disaster of a planned completely mutual meeting! One "mistake" sets off a whole domino effect of craziness. As Violent Delights plays out, you feel a variety of emotions... Angst, anger, frustration, even humor... The inner dialogue between the two main characters is hilarious, as they try to make sense of something that has gone oh-so-wrong.What a FANTASTIC story, a story I was kind of searching for without even knowing it. This was it, and so much more!! The heat factor was of the charts!!!!!! All around, this read contained everything and more that justifies AT LEAST a 5,* rating from me.I will be reading more from this author....soon!!
This book is written well overall and had interesting twists. I liked the way the author was able to make you feel the fear of the heroine. I would reread it (which is saying something.) It certainly lives up to its title.Having said that, the set-up for the heroine is a little unbelievable. Once you get over that, the story takes on a life of its own. The initial violence is very dark, not consensual (although the hero doesn't know that) and it really made me hate Joseph. So it served it's purpose: Liana's fear was palpable. Liana kept the secret a little longer than absolutely necessary, but it still worked. At a couple of points, I couldn't imagine how either of these characters could come out of the situation. It kept me reading long after I should have gone to sleep.
Just when liana thinks that her life couldn't get any worse, she's lost her job that she really liked, broke up with and kicked her cruel boyfriend out. She wanders the city and stops at a bar in a seedy part of town, desperate to forget everything. When liana leaves the bar she finds out just how badly things can change, when she's kidnapped! She has no idea what twisted game has begun. Joseph has no idea that liana isn't who he thinks she was supposed to be. So well written, you can feel liana's fear. You can hear the confusion and impatience in Joseph. This mistake at the start of the game, is a means to bring about discovery, growth and the most courage that Joseph or liana will ever imagine facing. So well written, you can't stop reading. At least I couldn't. Many intense scenarios, that looking back are essential to the story. I look forward to more books from Linnea May.
Great Book. Really enjoyed it. A little dark. It is all about mistaken identity, and a misunderstanding. Joseph hires women to be kidnapped by him and kept at his house for 39 days as his sexual pet. There is a contract and the women are paid very well. Until Liana. She is down on her luck. Her boyfriend left her for another woman, the professor she works for died, so she is out of a job and trying to plan his funeral. She doesn't get along with or see her mother and she was abused by her father as a child. She is drowning her sorrows in a bar, when a really pretty woman in a fur coat comes in. This woman reminds her of the woman her boyfriend left her for. When the woman goes into the bathroom, she spontaneously takes the fur coat and leaves the bar. This sets off s whole chain of events that forever changed her life. It is heartbreaking but at the same time a little funny, because of their perceptions and mistaken identity and a great big misunderstanding.
This is my first adventure with this writer and I have to say I need more. This was well written with an amazing plot that kept me reading in my car till I was done. It is so dark and hot. I wanted to be the mistaken "Ruby"! I highly recommend this book for those who enjoy something more than the usual hearts and flowers romance. This book definitely has "meat"
