About the Author
Jacqueline L. Reck Serves as the associate dean of financial management and academic affairs for the College of Business and is the James E. and C. Ellis Rooks Distinguished Professor in Accounting at the University of South Florida. She received a BS degree from North Dakota State University, BS and MAcc degrees from the University of South Florida, and her PhD from the University of Missouri–Columbia. She is a certified public accountant (Florida). Dr. Reck worked for state government for several years before joining academia. Currently, she is active in several professional associations. In addition to teaching governmental and not-for-profit accounting, Dr. Reck serves on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council and frequently presents continuing professional education workshops and sessions. She has provided workshops on governmental and not-for-profit accounting for local accounting firms and the state auditor general’s staff. Dr. Reck has received several teaching and research awards and has chaired or served on several doctoral dissertation committees. Dr. Reck has published articles in Contemporary Accounting Research; Journal of Accounting and Public Policy; Research in Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting; Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting and Financial Management; and the Journal of Information Systems , among others. She joined as an author on the 14th edition.

Assigned by a professor who had worked with the authors. The most recent version is better than the one we started with (had to switch halfway through because professor decided to change after class started.) But this book is not clear in many things. Illustrations don't match what the text is saying so they are either misplaced or inappropriate. I would like to have seen a plain chart somewhere in the not-for-profit section that compared all 3 styles side by side, with changes in account names, specific names for forms required, limits on accounting methods, etc. Instead you have to wade through chapters of vague information to pull out the information. As a textbook is was bad. As a reference book - it would be worse than useless.
This book was terrible. Mistakes throughout and the practice questions either didn't make sense or the multiple choice answers were not clear. Not like it matters. If you have to get the book because a professor requires it, you have to get the book (even if it sucks).
This book is unclear and tough to follow. The material is boring enough, but the format of this book makes it even worse. Sorry if you're required to buy it.
This book is extremely difficult to follow. Examples are not explained and there are a few that are incorrect which makes the book even more confusing. It does not give clear explanations of things which makes it almost impossible to use for online education. I would not recommend any instructor using this book especially online instructors.
This text book was required for my college course. While the material is complicated, the authors did a fairly well job of putting it together. Sometimes I get lost in the numerous details and lose sight of the big picture of each chapter. I appreciate the tables and charts in each chapter.
This book is the worst!It is very complicated, not clear, the terms and words are so not understandable. Examples are so irreverent and not helpful at all.exercises are very complicated and it assumes you have all the fundamentals unlike the introduction of this book.I had to buy it from my school, and I am stuck with it, big mistake. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALLBE AWARE!!!!
